Former X Factor contestant Annastasia Baker has been crowned winner of TV Talent Show Time2Shine 2013.
Over 2,000 music fans flocked to London’s IndigO2 Arena on Sunday 13 October to witness 13 finalists battle to win the coveted title worth £100,000, which includes a record deal and £10,000 cash prize.
In a gripping showdown between the final three, popular singers Elizabeth Williams, Felicia Alamu and Annastasia Baker faced a public vote after performing duets with leading gospel artists Beverley Trotman, Lurine Cato and Noel Robinson (respectively).
After being announced the winner by TV and radio star host Diane Louise Jordan, a shocked and ecstatic Annastasia gushed: ‘The news still hasn’t sunk in, I just can’t believe it!
‘I feel like I’m at the beginning of a new journey and doors are truly going to open for me. I can’t wait to get into the studio. Thank you so much to all the fans who ran up their phone bills and voted for me!’
Annastasia was previously best known for her appearance on X Factor in 2008 and 2010. Both times she made it to Cheryl Cole’s house, but not the live finals.
Time2Shine founder and entrepreneur Mercy B says: ‘Annastasia was the right person to win Time2Shine – she has everything, and has tapped in to the place where she belongs. X Factor’s loss has been our gain. To God be the glory.’
Praising this year’s cohort, Mercy adds: ‘This year’s talent has been fantastic; not only because of singing ability, but also because of the passion and determination shown by the contestants. Many of them went far and beyond our expectations during some of the tasks they had to endure.’
Plans are now underway for Time2Shine 2014, and Mercy urges new applicants to get involved: ‘If you have a gift, and you are a Christian then Time2Shine is the place for you; without compromising your faith.
‘And if you think this year was good, you haven’t seen anything yet. Things will only get better.’
